
Dr.Fadil Santosa receives 2023 SIAM Prize for Distinguished Service
Dr. Fadil Santosa, professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics and the Yu Wu and Chaomei Chen Department Head, has been selected to receive the 2023 SIAM Prize for Distinguished Service to the Profession.
This prize is awarded every year by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics to an applied mathematician who has made distinguished contributions to the advancement of applied mathematics on the national or international level.
Fadil was chosen to receive the award “in recognition of his extraordinary dedication to bridging the gap between industry and academia,” for his leadership with the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications and the BIG Math Network, and his contributions to the field through his editorial work.
His research interests include inverse problems, wave phenomena in complex media and in photonic devices, and optimal design. He is currently focusing his efforts on optimal experiment design for inverse problems and modeling of direct air capture of CO2.
He will receive the award at the 10th International Congress on Industrial and Applied Mathematics scheduled for August in Japan.
