The President’s Ten for One strategic framework sets out ten new goals for Johns Hopkins University through 2030 under four organizing pillars: One University, Individual and Collective Excellence, Knowledge and Impact, and Community Partnership and Economic Opportunity for Baltimore and the other communities of which we are a part. Each month we will highlight a goal and share some of the ways that we can advance our professional growth related to the university’s strategic mission.

Goal #4: Retain, recruit, and inspire the very best faculty in the world by ensuring that we have competitive resources, state-of-the-art facilities, and outstanding support services that nurture research and discovery at the vanguard of each field of inquiry.

To continue the legacy of excellence that has defined our institution since its founding, and in recognition of the exceptional and foundational role our faculty play every day at the heart of our university, we will:
1. Ensure that the levels of compensation and professional support enjoyed by our faculty are competitive with those offered in comparable peer programs.
2. Continue to grow strategically—through the addition of faculty lines—those departments and programs that seek to enhance their size and corresponding impact.
3. Devise a new ecosystem for the funding of breakthrough research in basic biomedical and life sciences.
4. Construct a new generation of leading-edge facilities to meet the needs and aspirations of our faculty.

The LAD Academy is a direct response to Goal #4, and we are proud to support faculty at every stage of their professional growth. What do YOU  Need to Work at Peak Professional Performance: The LAD Academy is Listening….Use the link below to share your ideas.

Short Separator

A leader who meets this competency exercises self-leadership, self-awareness, and self-regulation; manages emotions so that they are expressed appropriately; leads others by showcasing adaptability, empathy, and social skills.

JHU’s Inclusive Excellence Education and Development is hosting a workshop called Emotional Intelligence and Diversity, held twice this summer. Register on MyLearning.

Academic Impressions has a 5 day asynchronous course called Emotional Intelligence for Academic Teams (1 hour total learning time), which is free for JHU faculty and staff. Register here using JHU SSO, and the course will email you daily reminders to start your next short (15 min or less) session.
