
Nathan R. Stenberg Inaugural Director of Disability, Culture, and Inclusion
Dr. Nathan R. Stenberg serves as the inaugural Director of Disability, Culture, and Inclusion at Johns Hopkins University, where he leads the development and implementation of institution-wide strategies for disability policy, research, and innovation.
As Affiliate Faculty at the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics, Nathan’s work centers on evidence-based approaches to addressing gaps in clinical research and practice, as well as policy design, implementation, and evaluation.
Nathan’s interdisciplinary expertise spans bioethics, medicine, law, public policy, and performance studies. He has contributed to research-driven initiatives at both national and institutional levels and consults on policy development for a variety of organizations.
A public speaker, filmmaker, performing artist, and certified personal trainer, Nathan connects academic research to practical advocacy across multiple platforms.
Originally from rural Minnesota, Nathan was born with cerebral palsy and is a proud first-generation college graduate. He holds a BA in Music from Roberts Wesleyan University, an MDiv from Princeton Seminary, and a PhD in Performance Historiography from the University of Minnesota. He remains an avid Minnesota sports fan and enjoys exploring new creative challenges.
