The President’s Ten for One strategic framework sets out ten new goals for Johns Hopkins University through 2030 under four organizing pillars: One University, Individual and Collective Excellence, Knowledge and Impact, and Community Partnership and Economic Opportunity for Baltimore and the other communities of which we are a part. Each month we will highlight a goal and share some of the ways that we can advance our professional growth related to the university’s strategic mission.

Leadership Competency #2: Developing Talent

Short Separator

A leader who meets this competency provides guidance and feedback to help other strengthen knowledge/skills needed to accomplish tasks, solve problems, and perform effectively. They guide and support the professional development of individuals so that they can fulfill future job/role responsibilities, define career goals, and establish development plans to achieve them. These leaders give people constructive, developmental feedback and advice. They invest time and resources into building the capabilities of their team members.

Academic Impressions has a 1-hour course called The Art and Practice of Giving and Receiving Feedback, and it is available free when you log in with your JHED ID. Taking this course also provide credit towards completion of the Provost Picks’ LAD Academy Certification!
